Yes — every pearl we carry is a genuine cultured pearl. We specialize in Akoya, Freshwater, Tahitian, and South Sea pearls, each hand-selected for luster, nacre quality, and surface. We never sell imitation, simulated, or shell pearls.
Natural pearls form entirely by chance inside wild oysters — they are exceedingly rare and almost impossible to find commercially today. Cultured pearls are initiated by pearl farmers who insert a small nucleus into the oyster, but the pearl-forming process — the layering of nacre — is identical to nature. Cultured pearls are 100% real pearls. Virtually all pearls sold in fine jewelry worldwide are cultured.
We carry four varieties: Akoya (classic white, brilliant luster, Japan), Freshwater (versatile colors and shapes, China), Tahitian (naturally dark — peacock, grey, aubergine, French Polynesia), and South Sea (the largest and rarest, white and golden, Australia and Indonesia). Each variety has its own character — our Pearl Guide walks through all four in detail.
Yes — and that is part of what makes them special. Because pearls are organic gemstones formed inside living creatures, slight variations in shape, surface texture, and colour are completely natural. No two pearls are identical. Minor surface characteristics — known as "birthmarks" — are normal and do not affect the beauty or durability of the pearl. Our photos aim to represent each piece as accurately as possible.
Every piece in our collection is assessed across six quality factors: luster, nacre thickness, shape, surface, size, and color. We prioritize luster above all — it is the quality that gives a pearl its unmistakable inner glow. We do not carry pearls with thin nacre or poor luster, regardless of size or price point.
Depending on the design, our jewelry is crafted using solid 14kt gold, sterling silver, or gold vermeil. The metal type is clearly listed on each product page. We do not use base metals or plated brass in our fine pearl collection.
Yes — our pearl strands are individually hand-strung on silk thread with a knot between each pearl. This traditional technique protects the pearls from rubbing against each other and ensures that if the strand ever breaks, no pearls are lost. It is the hallmark of quality pearl jewellery craftsmanship.
Yes — we work with clients on custom pearl jewelry for special occasions including engagements, anniversaries, and gifts. Please contact us with your request and we'll discuss options, timelines, and pricing.
Pearl necklaces worn regularly should be restrung every one to two years to keep the silk thread strong — this is normal upkeep, not a fault. It isn't covered by the warranty, but we're happy to help: contact us to arrange a restringing.

Pearls are organic gems and benefit from a little care. Always put pearls on last when getting ready — after perfume, hairspray, and makeup — and take them off first when you return home. Wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth after each wear. Store them separately from harder jewelry in a soft pouch or lined box. Avoid contact with chlorine, bleach, and harsh chemicals. For a full care guide, visit our Pearl Care section.
Yes — with proper care, pearls are well-suited for daily wear, particularly Freshwater and Akoya pearls. The natural oils from your skin can actually enhance a pearl's luster over time. The key is to avoid exposing them to chemicals, perfume, and moisture, and to store them properly between wearings.
If the silk thread looks loose or discoloured, or the pearls slide freely without resistance, it is time to restring the necklace. For regularly worn strands, we recommend restringing every one to two years. Restringing is a maintenance service separate from the warranty: contact us for options, timing, and pricing.
